Johnstown Galleria to host another drive-up food distribution on Wednesday

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will be back in Johnstown on Wednesday March 10 for another drive-up food distribution at the Galleria Mall. Organizers say the event will start at noon and end promptly at 2pm. To be guaranteed to receive food at this event you must register before 5pm on Tuesday March 9 or before all 1,200 spots are filled. Longtime Huntingdon Co. theater hosting 'Save the Theater' fundraiser this weekend

Huntingdon Co., PA (WJAC) — The Clifton 5 Theater in Huntingdon County is in danger of closing its doors. One manager from the theater says factors include bills and loans to pay from last year due to the pandemic, and people just not going to the theater. He says the theater has been in business for about one-hundred years. "This is our home, a lot of us have been working here for years and we come into work in good natures and everything because we love being here.

Stress-relieving Rampage Room opens in State College

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Have you ever heard of rampage rooms -- or "break rooms"? They're businesses that offer a unique and fun way to let out your anger and frustrations. The hot new trend is all the rage. Rampage rooms are opening all across the nation and one opened Friday at the Nittany Mall in State College. The basis behind it is the therapeutic benefits of releasing emotions -- anger, aggravation, anxiety and sadness -- through physical activity.

3 Ohio victims identified in fatal I-80 accident in Jefferson County

UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police said a fatal crash near the Brookville-Sigel Exit on I-80 Monday happened when 23-year-old Urania Soria veered off the road. Police said Soria, her 5-year-old passenger and another man, Otilio Perez, were killed in the collisions that followed. All three were from Ohio. Police said Soria's vehicle was traveling east in the left lane of I-80, crossed the grass median, and spun clockwise about 90 degrees.

Cleanup underway after barge leaks up to 2,000 gallons of oil in Galveston

GALVESTON, Texas (TND) — It's estimated that 1,000 to 2,000 gallons of oil leaked into surrounding water after a barge hit a bridge in Galveston, Texas Wednesday. Officials with the U.S. Coast Guard, Texas General Land Office and Martin Marine provided an update on the ongoing efforts at Pelican Island Bridge and the Galveston Bay more than 24 hours after the collision. A break in the barge's coupling caused the 321-foot barge to strike, according to Rick Freed, Vice President of the barge operator, Marine Division.

Family mourns Virginia man who died after falling down well

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A 73-year-old man died after falling down a well in Virginia, according to authorities. The Campbell County Sheriff's Office saidthe man was trapped 70 feet down in the well and was found unresponsive. WSET spoke to Brandy Guthrie, who identified the man as her father, Preston Elliott. He was the best father anybody could ask for," Guthrie told WSET on Sunday.Guthrie said her father left behind many memories.

Johnstown man dies from injuries in bicycle crash

BEDFORD CO, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County say a Johnstown man died Monday after suffering severe injuries in a bicycle crash. Troopers say 78-year-old Maynard Witherell was riding his bike along Main Road in Colerain Township Monday afternoon when the chain on the bicycle broke, causing him to crash. Investigators say Mr. Witherell fell off the bike and hit his head, resulting in him being flown to Conemaugh Hospital.
