Bishop McCort names Art McQuillan as school's next hockey coach

Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Bishop McCort announced Monday that longtime Westmont Hilltop coach Art McQuillan has been named as the Crushers' next head hockey coach. “Bishop McCort Catholic High School is very pleased to have Mr. McQuillan become a part of the McCort team,” said McCort Principal and CAO Tom Smith. “Any way that you want to measure the performance of a hockey team, his have been extremely successful. This is the right coach for Crusher Hockey at this time.

Claysburg P.A.S.T organizes outside walking tour of Sarah Furnace Mansion Grounds

The Claysburg P.A.S.T (Preserving artifacts, stories and traditions) organization held an outside walking tour of the Sarah Furnace Mansion Grounds on Sunday. Due to the condition of the facilities and buildings, attendees were not allowed to see inside but they were able to walk around in groups and listen to 5 different presentations about the different aspects of the mansion’s history. The event drew a lot of attention with over 100 people buying tickets.

Family speaks out after police say infant with local ties is killed by family friend

Cambria County, Pa. (WJAC) — A Texas man is charged with capital murder for killing an infant whose mourning family is from our area. Ahren Joshua DeHart was just one year old when he was killed last week. 6 News spoke with Brandon DeHart, baby Ahren's father. "I would never expect anything like this to happen," he told us. Brandon is a graduate of Conemaugh Valley High School and moved to El Paso, TX to serve in the military.

Lifelike dinosaur exhibit opens in Clearfield County

DUBOIS, Pa. — A new dinosaur attraction recently opened its doors in Clearfield County. Doolittle’s Dinosaurs is located at Dr. Jeffrey Rice’s Doolittle Station on Rich Highway in DuBois. “Since there is a universal appeal of dinosaurs and I like dinosaurs from seeing some of the Jurassic Park movies, I became hooked,” Rice said. Rice teamed up with the county’s tourism authority to create a unique destination for locals and out of town guests.

Helicopter falls off transport truck on highway near DC

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (WJLA) — Traffic was backed up on a busy highway near Washington, D.C. after a helicopter fell off a semi that was transporting it to a new location. A privately-owned helicopter that was being hauled along I-495 slipped off the transport vehicle as it traveled down the road, briefly closing a merge lane and shoulder. A spokesperson with Prince George's County Fire Department said no units were dispatched.

Police investigate bulldozer crash in Bedford County

WOODBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — State police are looking for at least one suspect who they said crashed a bulldozer Monday. They said it happened in Woodbury Township near Hickory Bottom Road and Pulpit Road and the bulldozer belonged to Cottles Asphalt Maintenance. Someone who wasn’t allowed to use the equipment drove the bulldozer into an asphalt roller, causing substantial damage, according to police. They said the roller is valued at $20,000.
